Belmont Stakes Racing Festival — Day 3 | Festival Record: 3-2-4, $32.02 ROI
Races 1–5 free. Races 6–14 + Best Bet exclusive to ITM Plus members.
Race 1: 8-6-3-5
#8 Hadrian’s Wall seems poised to break his maiden. A narrow loser last out when heavily favored in a race won by eventual Blue Grass runner-up Ottinho, he has tactical speed, races with Lasix for the first time, and returns from a break. The speed he possesses will help him stay close over a racetrack that has been tilted towards ground-saving runners in recent days.
Race 2: 3-2-5-4
#3 Hit the Post broke his maiden a year ago, wiring a field of MSW runners over a sloppy track. Now goes 2nd off a layoff after time off at the end of his 3YO campaign. The lead appears to be his for the taking and that makes him very dangerous. Jockey Christopher Elliott has had plenty of success on this son of Kantharos, including a stakes score last fall at Finger Lakes.
Race 3: 8-3-2-10
In an absolutely loaded maiden race, #8 Accost returns from a brief break for trainer Chad Brown. When last seen he was a non-factor sprinting on the main track at Keeneland after botching the break and winding up well behind in the opening stages. A cleaner beginning will help him get more involved early at a square price.
Race 4: 3-1-2
#3 Ways and Means is the one to beat off a runner-up finish in the Derby City Distaff. She was passively ridden that day as her rider conceded the lead to R Disaster in the opening quarter — leaving her with too much to do late. Flavien Prat is back aboard and should have this gal actively involved in early proceedings over her favourite racetrack.
Race 5: 9-7-1-2
#9 Triskelion returns from a lengthy break for trainer Rusty Arnold. She showed real potential as a 2YO, finishing 2nd in a tough MSW at Kentucky Downs before a narrow miss in a key race at Keeneland. Arnold has trained her of late with Buttercream Babe, a stakes-caliber turfer, and her early speed is a weapon given the way this course has played in turf sprints over the first two days of the festival.
Races 6–14 + Best Bet of the Day: ITM Plus Exclusive
Nick’s Best Bet is in Race 8 — a horse he rates “the best bet in the race at 5-1 or so” with a pace advantage, a Flavien Prat rider switch, and going second off a layoff. PTF — Two-Day Pick 6 Analysis
Peter Thomas Fornatale | ITM Plus | Friday, June 5, 2026
Legs A–C free. Legs D–F (Woody Stephens, Met Mile, Belmont Stakes) + full ticket construction exclusive to ITM Plus members.
PTF is taking a swing at the all-dirt two-day Pick 6 — five Grade 1s and a salty Grade 3 sprint, capped by the Belmont. The all-dirt structure is the whole trick: NYRA strung the heaviest dirt stakes across two days into a single pool. Here’s the sequence:
| Leg | Race | Day | Post (ET) | Dist. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Acorn (G1) | Fri 6/5 | 5:08 PM | 1 1/8m |
| B | Ogden Phipps (G1) | Fri 6/5 | 6:25 PM | 1 1/8m |
| C | True North (G3) | Sat 6/6 | 3:25 PM | 6 1/2f |
| D | Woody Stephens (G1) | Sat 6/6 | 4:52 PM | 7f |
| E | Met Mile (G1) | Sat 6/6 | 5:32 PM | 1m |
| F | Belmont Stakes (G1) | Sat 6/6 | 7:04 PM | 1 1/4m |
Twenty-cent base. The two-day nature of the bet may keep the computers from feasting and give retail players more of a fighting chance.
Leg A — Acorn (G1) · Fri R10 · 5:08 PM
Taking a shot with #3 Meaning, playing her the same amount as #5 Always a Runner, and fading the other two. The angle with Meaning: she had to do a lot of work chasing down Explora with that fast pace in the Oaks, and I don’t think she was able to run as efficiently as the winner. Switch the trips, switch the result. Always a Runner is likely still on the improve and won’t be faded. Prom Queen and Counting Stars are live but will lose if they win.
A’s: 3, 5
Leg B — Ogden Phipps (G1) · Fri R12 · 6:25 PM
Nitrogen (7-5 ML, Jose Ortiz, Mark Casse) is too short to build around. Going with #1 Fully Subscribed — same progressive profile this barn excels with, and was just too wide last time, three-wide on both turns against a perfect-trip winner. #6 Bless the Broken came out of that same race against the flow after waiting for room at a critical stage — she’s the other one. Nitrogen stays in as a defensive use on her body of work.
A’s: 1 | B’s: 5, 6
Leg C — True North (G3) · Sat R8 · 3:25 PM
#3 Bentornato is near and dear and the track might cater to his take-no-prisoners style — top pick now. #2 Imagination is probably better than given credit for, definitely better than that last running line when he got buried. #6 Book’em Danno has weird vibes — the decision to skip the Breeders’ Cup, the meh last race in wraps, the turf work — but he loves it around Saratoga. The more PTF looks, the less he likes, but Book’em Danno is on the tickets as a B.
A’s: 3 | B’s: 2, 6
