Gulfstream’s Mandatory Mondays Start Today
Circle Mondays for the rest of the summer. Beginning today, July 13, Gulfstream Park races every Monday through August 31 — and it’s built for the bettor. Each Monday is a Mandatory Monday, with the 20-cent Rainbow 6 forced out for a guaranteed full payout across all eight Mondays, so the pools should swell. First post today is 12:20 p.m. ET.
Gulfstream is also rolling out a slate of new, player-friendly wagers — all at a 15% takeout:
Players Late Pick 3 — $3 minimum, on the last three races of the day.
Players Late Double — $5 minimum, on the last two races.
Players Place Pick 8 — $1 minimum, on the last eight races; pick a horse to run first or second in each one, with 100% of the net carryover paid out and no consolations.
And there’s more coming Saturday: the new Gulfstream Summer Sweep Pick 5, a multi-track Pick 5 hosted by Gulfstream ($1 minimum, 15% takeout, full carryover, no consolations) that will run every racing day from July 18 through September 20. More at DRF →

Still Time: Help Us Sell Out the LRF Cares Contest
Our big goal this week rolls on: filling the 7th Annual LRF Cares Horseplayer Contest on Saturday, July 18 — a $250 Pick & Pray over all of Del Mar’s races on HorsePlayers.com that awards one 2027 NHC seat for every 40 entries (two guaranteed) and sends every dollar to Thoroughbred aftercare. The more players in, the more seats awarded — and you can win your way in cheap through HorsePlayers.com’s $14 feeders. Let’s pack it.
Around the Sport
At Monmouth on Sunday, the twice-delayed $75,000 Irish War Cry Handicap finally ran — and it went to a longshot: J J Zo Zo, under Charlie Marquez, got the job done in his first-ever try around two turns. Eric Solomon had flagged him as a live price in his card, and the read paid off.
A Pick 6 twist at the Spa. Sunday’s $1 Pick 6 at Saratoga was scratched entirely after the stewards, citing jockey safety concerns about one-mile inner-turf races for 2-year-olds, changed Race 4’s distance to a mile and a sixteenth. With Saratoga dark until Thursday, the roughly $166,000 carryover now rolls to Thursday’s card, where it will begin anew in Race 4. The details at TDN →
Playing Today: Presque Isle
Chance Rains has today’s eight-race Presque Isle card over the Erie tapeta (first post 3:30 p.m. ET), with tight races at the top of both standings adding a storyline: Scooter Davis sits a single win behind Kevin Rice for the trainer lead, while Gaddiel Martinez holds a two-win edge over Antonio Gallardo among the riders. And Every Friday: The ITM Tour
The In the Money HorsePlayers Tour runs its own $20 feeder every Friday — a path to the ITM Tour Playoffs, a BCBC-Qualifier seat for every 10 entries, and proceeds to Breeders’ Cup Charities. Last week a player turned a $20 feeder into a $10,000 seat in the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. HorsePlayers.com →
