Analysis & Selections By: Dean Keppler @Keppskorner

BEST BET: 9-Ya’ll Come (Race 8)

Race #1: Selections: 2-4-5

2-Crossrighthands was beaten by double digits in both main track sprint tries at Del Mar, but stretches out this afternoon on the class drop for Miller and figures to be forwardly placed by Maldonado. The 3-year-old gelding may prove tough to reel in late. 4-Nassau Circle finished a much-improved runner-up when dropped to this level on Aug. 14 and sports the field’s best last-out main track Beyer (60). 5-Goodbye Dal can bounce back off a wide, troubled trip when behind Nassau Circle in the aforementioned Aug. 14 Del Mar route, and finished a solid third over this racetrack two-back with a competitive Beyer.

Race #2: Selections: 2-4-6

2-Arabian Flirt ran well in his lone try over the afternoon layout to finish fourth despite a terrible trip and has proven his affinity for the evening course as well. The 4-year-old colt stretches back out for the first time in 2025 and is dropped in for a career-low claiming tag. 4-Youramystyle steps up in class off the claim, exiting a solid second on Aug. 24. The former Florida shipper makes his third start of the form cycle today off an improving Beyer pattern. A consistent 4-for-5 ITM, 6-Winning Lover returns off a 14-month hiatus for conditioner Vann Belvoir but has been training steadily down at Del Mar for today’s return to action. The 5-year-old gelding makes his initial start over the afternoon layout.

Race #3: Selections: 5-8-1

A weak $12,500 Maiden Claiming sprint for 3-year-old fillies is a good spot to try a firster, which lands us on 5-Beyond the Law for trainer Stacy Campo. This barn has solid stats with their debut runners, and this filly has worked well enough at Del Mar the last several weeks. Her sire, Lotsa Mischief, gets a respectable 18% overall with his debuting offspring. 8-Kool Tap Dancer goes turf to dirt on the class drop this afternoon, and finished a solid second two back over the evening program, covering 1,000 yards at this level. 1-Heartfull of Joy flashed solid gate speed through taxing early splits before tiring badly off an 11-month layoff at DMR on Aug. 22, but should prove much tighter today with that race under her belt.

Race #4: Selections: 3-2-1

3-Outrageous may fall into a similar stalking trip that landed her the victory three back over this course for conditioner Marcia Stortz. The five-time winning filly shortens back up from 6 ½ to 5 ½ furlongs today, exiting a good second on Aug. 15. A multiple winner over the evening course, 2-Sensational Z Z returns to dirt this afternoon after flashing speed and tiring against better on Aug. 23. The daughter of Om drops back down to today’s $16k winning level from two-back when scampering away to a game gate-to-wire 14-1 win at DMR going today’s 5 ½-furlong trip. It’s been a long time since 1-Coruscation ran on the afternoon layout. Still, the 6-year-old mare is 2-for-2 over this racetrack and has been freshened since a decent third in a stake event back in June, when finishing in front of a pair of today’s rivals.

Race #5: Selections: 1-10-7

1-Call Me Susie was a disappointing seventh on debut when attracting some wagering support for her unveiling on Aug. 7, but can move forward off that effort today for conditioner Charlie Treece. This gray filly by Stay Thirsty has trained well over the local footing and likely has more ability than she revealed down at Del Mar. The Michael McCarthy-trained 10-Separator goes turf to dirt this afternoon and drops in for a first-time tag. This lucrative barn has a 4 for 13 (31%) record with that maneuver over the past three years, and this filly is nicely drawn outside. Blinkers off, 7-Bear’s Board was a beaten favorite seventh in her Southern California unveiling at Del Mar on Aug. 28 for Team O’Neill after a good second at Colonial on debut. This lucrative jockey-trainer combo is three for the last five with Los Al starters.

Race #6: Selections: 3-7-4

3-Liquid Squirt broke her maiden over this course in her debut and exits a solid runner-up try against better at DMR on Aug. 21. The 3-year-old filly has plenty of gate speed to get good position early on, retains Fresu, and sports the field’s best last-out Beyer (62). The lightly raced 7-Venice Vibe takes a substantial class drop returning off a 10-month layoff for Miller, but has trained steadily for this afternoon’s return to action and should prove competitive against this group for a solid layoff barn. The daughter of multiple Grade 1 winner Yoshida adds blinkers and Lasix today. The other O’Neill runner, 4-She’s Splendid, is a late threat exiting a closing third when dropped to this career low just 11 days ago.

Race #7: Selections: 3-9-1

3-Cupid’s Crusader broke a step slow and raced wide in his most recent effort at Del Mar on July 18 — a race that’s produced a pair of next-out winners. The 6-year-old gelding was a game winner at SA two-back, retains Berrios today, and worked a solid four furlongs in :47.1 on Sept. 5 in preparation for this. Claimed from his last pair of sharp tries, 9-Broadway Unions steps up in class today for conditioner Hector Palma off his Aug. 9 win, where he posted a field’s best last-out (72) Beyer. He’s also been training well for the new barn and ran well in both local starts here. 1-Petesoldfashioned is just 2 for 26 lifetime, but shortens back up to a sprint today off a series of route tries for Knapp and should be picking up the pieces late with a likely ground-saving journey.

Race #8: Selections 9-7-5

9-Ya’ll Come takes a huge class drop from MDSW into today’s $12,500 Maiden Claiming level in his fourth career try for trainer Dean Pederson after finishing third in three consecutive main track sprints, including one over this racetrack two-back. The Smiling Tiger gelding should prove tough today if he can replicate the 68 and 62 Beyer figures he ran to start his career. 7-Nabers ran a better-than-looks sixth as the tepid beaten favorite on Aug. 15 against slightly better and now makes his third try off the bench since arriving from South Florida for the new barn. The gelded son of Authentic has worked well over the local course. The Sadler-trained, 5-Springs puts blinkers back on today and drops in for a career-low tag this afternoon off four flat efforts. The Outwork colt makes his third start of the form cycle this afternoon and is likely to move forward with today’s class relief.
