COAST TO COAST P5 – 10/18/2025

RACE 7 GULFSTREAM PARK
SELECTIONS: 5-6-3-1
#5 PRACTICALLY DARK comes back to the friendly confines of South Florida, where he was last seen winning two in a row before shipping north. He has tactical speed and should be able to stay within range early in a race that is not exactly loaded with pace types. The competition includes #6 STEPPE, who faced better last time out and grinded out a game win at nearly 5-1.

RACE 8 GULFSTREAM PARK
SELECTIONS: 11-12-6-2
Indulge me for a second with #11 WIN BET ONLY. Understanding she’s a maiden with virtually no formidable past performances, she did wake up last out in a career best effort and made a meaningful off the pace move. This is a 7 furlong affair, which can be a big ask of late October 2YOs. This race is also overloaded with speed types who’ll certainly set the table for the closers. She might be nothing more than a placing chance, but you have to use her a bit in the multis to inject a tremendous amount of value.

RACE 3 SANTA ANITA PARK
SELECTIONS: 4-1-6-3
The rare turf sprint with no speed, this feels like a great spot for #4 SHANGRILAMA. She was last seen finishing a distant third on dirt against better, but won a similar 25k seller down at Del Mar from off the pace. The early pace in there was very strong and she sat comfortably before unleashing a nice late bid. The plan here has to be to race more forwardly, as there is little to no speed signed up and that would help her cause.

RACE 10 GULFSTREAM PARK
SELECTIONS: 8-4-5-3
Can #8 CON COMPANIA speed pop this field? It certainly looks that way on paper as there is little to no speed set to spar with him early. He is plenty fast and should be loose in the opening stages of this affair. The mile is the big worry, as he has been most effective in this country going shorter. The presence of Emisael Jaramillo is encouraging, though, as he is the best front end rider in this colony. The obvious use is #4 STEAL SUNSHINE, who gets back to the main track for this engagement.

RACE 6 SANTA ANITA
SELECTIONS: 2-1-7-4
With four speed types signed up, the setup should be there for #2 MARCOS PERFORMANCE. He was a game winner at 11-1 on debut at Del Mar then faltered last time out against similar rivals to what he meets today. The problem he ran into last out was that the pace held together and he endured a wide trip while trying to move late. This is a far more reasonable spot from a pace perspective, and the price will be more than appealing to say the least.

Good luck!
