SARATOGA SELECTIONS AND ANALYSIS BROUGHT TO YOU BY @BUCCHEROSTUD | LEARN MORE AT http://IHSTALLIONS.com
RACE 1: 4-3-1-2
The barn of Antonio Sano is more than capable of having one ready on debut, so #4 IMPERIA BLUE looms a real contender at first asking. She is reportedly training well, is by a legitimate debut sire in Audible and is out of dam who has dropped 3 winners. Tab the tote to get a line on whether she is live.
RACE 2: 5-4-3
#5 SIGNATOR is back in against allowance runners after two failed stakes tries recently. This class drop will bring out his best and he should get some pace to run at late, even in this compact field. The price here will be decent as well and #4 WOLFIE’S DYNAGHOST is incredibly dressed up off a wire-to-wire win where he set glacial fractions.
RACE 3: 5-2-6-1
#5 MERCY WARREN hails from the high flying barn of Joe Sharp and looks to be a major threat here on the class drop. Irad Ortiz, Jr. gets aboard so you basically have the hottest human connections at the track joining forces. This gal has speed and draws well on the outside to stalk and pounce.
RACE 4: 8-2-10-4
#8 TAX HOLIDAY is a firster by Kingman out of an unraced dam. The pedigree here is huge on the dam side in the 2nd generation. The dam of this filly is a half to the dam of Group I winners Japan and Mogul as well as the highly talented Secret Gesture. They paid $180,000 guineas for this gal who has been training in the serenity of Belmont Park.
RACE 5: 6-4-1-2
#6 KADENA is back to dirt after a failed turf bid at Monmouth Park. She was sharp in victory on debut then ran in a tough N1X two back downstate. The Thorograph figure she earned in that effort would make her tough to beat if duplicated here. The outside draw is ideal and the favorite vulnerable.
RACE 6: 4-5-2-7
The worktab and fanfare around #4 SCHWARZENEGGER are enough to give this colt the nod on debut. He hails from a top notch barn that is quietly having a good run at the meet. The pedigree is modest, as his dam was a 2YO debut winner who has dropped only one other runner and that one never turfed.
RACE 7: 2-7-3-8
#2 LUTHER is a late runner who figures to get a massive setup this afternoon. There’s an abundance of speed signed up in this field, and it stands to reason that this closer is going to be better at a mile. A son of Frankel, he broke his maiden at this trip then nearly earned a Group I placing at a mile. Look for him late in the game.
RACE 8: 12-2-5-7
Quite the second half of a double that begins with a Grade II stake, but #12 SANZIO is actually one of the more interesting bets of the day. He was a non-threatening sixth last time out against better, but now gets Lasix and blinkers on the biggest class drop in racing. He should be able to get more involved early, which will only help his chances.
RACE 9: 6-1A-4-7
No giving up now on #6 FLUID SITUATION, who will be in a good spot breaking towards the outside 3rd off a layoff this afternoon. He didn’t have the most comfortable trip last out but just came up empty late and now bids for his first local triumph facing a weaker field. The last start proved he still has some life left in his 6YO legs and we’re sure to get a good price again as well.
RACE 10: 7-1-5-4
There’s no doubt the best race was run by #7 LESLIE’S STAR in her last outing. She was wide around the far turn and into the lane and should be able to save more ground today coming from off the pace. There’s plenty of speed signed up to set up her late bid and there’s no certainty she’ll be favored.
