It wasn’t until halfway through the card that I realized that Monday’s post times were completely wrong. I sincerely apologize for that, and they should be correct now. Post times today will certainly be right, and hopefully my picks are as well. I’ll be brief today, so let’s not waste any more time and get to the day’s card.

RACE 1 – 1 mile 70 yards, Maiden Special Weight Post Time: 3:30 p.m
Grey Obsession (#4) comes off the layoff for Tim Hamm and just worked a sharp 35.1 second work over 3 furlongs. Eoin Harty brings Equator (#5) off the Kentucky circuit for this race, and this Godolphin homebred has faced some tough maidens in his day, most recently Stellenbosch and Tagermeen. Happy Prince (#2) also comes in from the Kentucky circuit, and his only tapeta start came on a heavily biased Turfway Park surface.

RACE 2 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 3:57
If Serene Waters (#3) had 6 furlongs last time out she might have won, only finishing a half-length off the winner. Golden Dogecoin (#2) has a curious statline from her last race: of four horses, the only one to cut back from a mile 70 yards finished in the money, the rest were off the board. That gives me a bit of confidence in the morning line. Gus’s Gal (#6) had some trouble last time out and comes back down in tag, a promising sign of better things to come.

RACE 3 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 4:24
Sugar Treat (#6) took the field gate to wire last time and I think she will do so again. Laughing Fit (#4) is sired by Practical Joke, whose progeny have an above-average winrate on synthetic sprints. Garnet And Gold (#1) only missed out on the win by a neck last time out, and I expect her to run back well in this spot.

RACE 4 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $6,250 Post Time: 4:51
She’s Lit (#3) is coming down in class after facing winners for the first time, and I’m becoming a fan of Bucchero progeny hitting the tapeta. Princess Charming (#1) was on the wrong end of a close finish, ending up fifth but only behind by a length. Spoken Vow (#6) will make up part of the early pace and I think she hangs around to hit the board.
Race 4 selections:3-1-6
RACE 5 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $12,500 Post Time: 5:18
Jayana (#1) made her first start at PID a winning one, and I would expect a similar effort today. Vanishing Wish (#6) will make up the early pace and this will be his first start at Presque Isle, so it will be interesting to see if he runs back to his last race, a romp on the turf on the lead at Belterra Park. Rock Tune (#2) is another last-out winner that wouldn’t shock me hitting the board.
Race 5 selections: 1-6-2
RACE 6 – 6 furlongs, Claiming $25,000 Post Time: 5:45
Scooter Davis is 42% when turning back routers in a sprint, giving me confidence to pick the front-running T’Ray (#4) in this spot. Sealand (#5) should be on the lead as well, and I think these two take the pack the whole way from gate to wire. Frosty Beer (#7) will get some pace but I think he’ll be outmatched with the two front runners.

RACE 7 – 6 furlongs, Allowance Optional Claiming Post Time: 6:12
I don’t need to be a genius to tout King Mendelssohn (#1) drawing the rail with his elite speed no matter the distance. Hector (#4) has the opportunity to showcase some tactical speed with the pace in front of him I’ll be interested to see what the 3-year-old filly Thank You Amy (#3) does here, given she’ll also want to be on the front end with the #1 but goes up against stiff competition here.

RACE 8 – 1 1/16 miles, Claiming $5,000 Post Time: 6:39
Finn McSorely (#9) quite enjoyed the class drop last time and the wide draw may deter some bettors from having him on tickets. J P Hellish (#6) is solid at this distance and comes off back-to-back wins. Louisianimal (#4) should be on the pace and should stick around on the front end.
