Course: Del Mar
Race: Race 3
Horse: For A Laugh
Trainer/Jockey: Simon Callaghan – Umberto Rispoli
Breeding: 2-year-old colt; Australia – Savoy Showgirl (Kyllachy)
Previously trained by Michael Bell. A maiden from two starts, it’s is early days so far in For A Laugh’s career, but early signs look promising. He shaped very well in a hot maiden at Sandow, coming from the rear off a slow pace and earning a nice sectional upgrade behind a subsequent Stakes winner. Up in class, he ran about as well as could be expected next time out in a Group 2 race at Newmarket, seeming to not really handle the dip there, but plugging on nicely late on. This flatter track will suit and the level he ran to there, around a 75 Beyer, looks to give him a seriously strong chance here in a race with a Beyer par of 68. This is a long-distance for these young horses, many of which are making their debut, and that should give For A Laugh an additional edge.
