GulfStream Park – Friday Dec 8th Early Pick 5 and TURF Pick 3 by Chris Cupples

Getting a late start to the Gulfstream Championship meet after a Make A Wish trip to Disney and bringing home Covid as souvenir now I will attempt to shake the rust off.   I hope to get some early Pick 5 thoughts up each day and you can also get John Pinder’s thoughts on the late pick 5 as well on the ITM Blog.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Overall nothing to get overly excited about in the Early Pick 5 today , but will play the cards we are dealt.  Top pick for each races in BOLD

Race 1 – 10 Maidens and majority trying something for the first time so the ALL button could be thrown to catch a price but not my style.
A – 5 Channel Loop makes her 2nd start for Clement who is 23% 2ndSt/T/Rte/MDCL.
A – 10 Simply Striking has the most race experience and drops for a tag.  Excited to see what Riley Mott’s barn does this meet.
The way the sequence came up I am ok with rolling with only these 2 and taking a shot but if you want more

B – 2 Broken Banker will be over bet of course but could justify using defensively.
B – 9 Wow Lucky ran I thought had the best tapeta race of this group and now tries the turf.

C’s – EVERYONE ELSE

Race 2 – I will look to use these 3 equally.
A – 2 Megan Makin Money fresh off claim for Breen with Paco up and now tries the dirt.  Has speed would expect to be on a full send mission here.
A – 3 Greek Mojo will go out 2nd off the claim for the Carlos barn while getting back to dirt where she has couple decent races.
A – 4 Marthamaywhovier will be my TOP PICK all 4 of her dirt races on a dry track fit at the level and she is the outside contender in my opinion.

Race 3
A – 2 Lady Tremaine makes her 2nd career and barn is giving up on her early which is not a great sign.
A – 3 Belleshazza is 0 for 19 but only 0 for 1 on the tapeta and now makes her 3rd start at this level.   The obvious favorite and will be a short price.
A – 5 For the thrill (20-1)  if you look back early 2023 at her 3 races routing on the tapeta with LX she fits at the level and there is nothing in here to scare you off.  At a huge price a small action bet could hit…
A – 7 Aperol for Breen and Paco tries Tapeta for first time and sure would not be a surprise here.

Race 4 will likely be the race that makes or breaks the early pick 5 for me.  Risky but seen a lot of holes in these fillies.
A – 6 Olivia’s Sparkle 10-1   I will make a win bet here and take my shot singling her on a P5 ticket.   She did not wow me in the works I watched but did nothing wrong and the others in this race will need to look much better than their works to impress anyone today.

Others that I will not be using but will take money.
2 On the Dot has experience and ran decent in both starts but she is small with no neck and had a turf sprint look to myself.
3 Blueish looked best of the rest but if you watch her works in order she appears to have gone backwards and has been hot N washy each work.
4 Cairnhill showed some ability but was all over the track and hard to handle.
5 Derby Hangover ran well on debut when running 3rd to a talented filly of Yates but I will let her beat me.

Race 5 has not clear stand out and since taking my shot in race 4 would like to have coverage here.
A – 1 Justintimeforwine is 4 for 12 since being claimed by Delgado and will now move to the tapeta for the first time since the barn change.
A – 6 Grande Soiree will run off the claim for D’Angelo who had this gelding in his barn early in 2023.   Clearly has the fastest proven tapeta form of the group.
A – 7 Speight’spercomete drops in class and the lone tapeta try was a salty group, should fine the company a bit softer today.
A – 8 Dubby Dubbie has solid tapeta races last year in the Hess barn that makes me hesitant to leave this one off my ticket.
