Late Pick 5
Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.
Race 6 SELECTIONS: 4 – 5 – Logical Winners in the 1st Leg
#4 Siegel is making his first start in the U.S. for trainer Jack Sisterson. He won on the turf overseas and will be getting blinkers today in his second lifetime start. Many believe that turf form translates well to the All-Weather. #5 Tapit Three Times also won on debut, this Tapwrit colt won a Maiden Claiming event and was claimed; today he runs for new trainer Joseph Orseno.
Race 7 SELECTIONS: 8 – 2- 9- 4 – Value Plays – Omitting #11 Silent Heart and #3 Crash the Gate from the ticket – They are logical winners but will be over-bet in a full field of 2 year-olds.
#8 Overmars has good pedigree and ran well enough on debut; jockey Leonel Reyes will be in the saddle. #2 Soar Richard is a first time starter who also has strong pedigree coupled with impressive morning works. #9 Fastest is a Mark Casse trainee that will be making the switch from All-Weather to turf. On debut he went off at odds of 7-1 and ran evenly; has the potential for improvement. #4 Chicago Theatre is a Glen Hill Farm homebred with very good pedigree and has been working 5F in the morning in preparation for his debut. Not sure if that is good or bad but it did catch my eye.
Race 8 SELECTIONS: 7 – 3 – Logical Winners
#7 Emboite is making a big drop in class for trainer Michael Maker; should be forwardly placed and be hard to beat. #3 Classic Mo Town has competed at this level in his last three starts and has been very competitive, showing continued improvement.
Race 9 SELECTIONS: 6 – 1 – Logical Winners
#6 Bourbon Breeze will be returning to a sprint distance after attempting a route last time when she got into trouble at the start. Will be a short price based on class drop, pedigree, jockey (some guy name Irad Ortiz Jr. 🙂 but a must include. #1 Sweet Hazely ran fast on debut winning at the Maiden 50K level here at GP; should offer value if she can get the job done, she is the fourth favorite based on the morning line odds.
Race 10 SELECTIONS: 7 – 6
#7 Flat Top Box has not been seen since the summer when he did not care for the mud up at Saratoga; dropping in class and today gets Irad in the saddle. #6 Cumberland is also dropping in class after last time running 7F at Kentucky Downs in the summer; returns to run after being gelded, he will get Luis Saez in the irons.
Today’s ticket .50 base (pre scratches) : 4, 5 / 2,4,8,9 / 3,7 / 1,6 / 6, 7 cost: $32
