On the Horizon – Gulfstream Park – Friday(December 08, 2023) – John Pinder

Late Pick 5

Race selections provided are in the mindset of playing the Pick 5 sequence as a whole; runners are placed in the order of most likely winner, in my humble opinion.

Race 6 SELECTIONS: 8 – 11 – 5 – 4               – Win or Play the Pick 4 🙂 – Today’s late Pick 5 is not projected to have many opportunities for non favorites; we will look to make a splash in the opener.

#8 Turf Rocket will be making her fourth career start today and has shown flashes against higher levels.  #11 Dazzling Move displayed good early speed in her two races up at Woodbine.  Today she gets some class relief and will be cutting back in distance.  #5 Imaboutago will make her debut for trainer Wesley Ward, who is very good with all horses but especially the young runners.   #4 Ernestina has good turf blood lines, her Dam has two winners from four starters including one turf winner.  She is making her second start after sprinting on the All-Weather the first time out.

Race 7 SELECTIONS:   4 – 6              Logical Winners

#4 Let’s Go Philly won’t be a hunch play for any Dallas Cowboys fans, but she is a 2-year-old filly with good speed and is dropping in class after tiring in her last race.  #6 Braccesca is stepping up in class after winning her debut with good early speed going 6Furlongs on the dirt.  Let’s see if she can carry that speed an additional 2Furlongs; there is not much proven speed in this race.

Race 8 SELECTIONS:    6 – 8             Logical Winners

#6 I Believe in Magic has good versatile speed and has been campaigned very judiciously by her owner-trainer Ronald Spatz.  She is very good at this level and has shown the ability to get the sometimes tricky distance of 7Furlongs.  #8 La Runa needs the lead to do her best and should be able to acquire it, once up front she has proven to be tuff.

Race 9 SELECTIONS:   A: 4  B:  2 – 10                  A: Logical Winner B: Value Plays

#4 Eyes on Target should get a good pace to run at and with Irad aboard and second off the layoff improvement looming, this son of Exaggerator is the most likely winner. #2 Lights of Broadway is very consistent at this level and should put in a good run. #10 The Doorman is also very consistent at this level and will need to work out a trip from the outside but has a very good jockey in Luis Saez who is very capable of making it happen.

Race 10 SELECTION:   5                                 Morning Line Favorite and Very Likely Winner

#5 Skyhooper looks to be the one to beat on paper.  Dropping in class with the top jockey in the saddle he will be the post time favorite.

Today’s ticket .50 base (pre scratches) :  4, 5 ,8,11 / 4,6 / 6,8 / 2,4,10 / 5        cost: $24
