I will be covering the Early Pick 5 in detail, and quick thoughts on rest of card.
You can find John Pinder’s work on the late Pick 5 under the Gulfstream Park menu as well here at Inthemoneypodcast.com

Happy Friday at Gulfstream Park!  1-800 Flowers just a hint if you don’t want to be in the dog house.

Three of five in the early pick 5 are maiden claimers so could produce a large payout if you can solve the puzzle.

Race 1
A LINE
2 It’s Just a Game will contend for favoritism after a large improvement with the addition of Lasix but that was on the tapeta.  Her debut is the only time she has raced on the turf which was a bit surprising the way she was working on the grass back in November.
4 Inallprobability tried routing on the grass two back when she all but stopped at the 16th pole.  I am counting on either the addition of lasix or cut back in distance to get her home.
5 Gulfstream Mary D is a bit interesting at what looks to be a price.   If you took her last off her running lines what price would she be in here?   I liked this filly back in the summer when her two route races were taken off the turf but she never lived up to expectations.   Jan. 3rd when she got Lasix looked to be the key running a big race but what happened last time?

B LINE – 7 9 10 but I do not see using as will need the ability to spread in the 3rd.

Race 2
A LINE
3 Blast Radius takes a big drop in class coming off an extended layoff which is a move we have seen from these connections repeatedly with plenty of success.  Feb of last year this gelding was working with No Mo Candy on a couple of occasions and I have the June 30th race slightly better than the other logical in here.
5 Passionate Cry added blinkers last time when swapping to the dirt and was much best slightly geared down late.

B – 4 Mohay Please IF! he goes as he just ran at Tampa Feb 5th when the blinkers were took off and this gelding made a big improvement.   If he goes I am leaning toward a must use.

Race 3 is going 3/4’s for maidens in for $12,500 with 3 AE’s trying to get in YIKES!! I am spreading here as I found several horses at big prices who looked capable.
A LINE is leaving out several of the bigger barns with bigger name jocks I would even consider tossing out the 4 and 5 but also not opposed to anyone hitting the all button in here.
1 In the Breeze for Yates who is 33% the last 5 years with first time starters sprinting on the dirt in maiden claimers and 61% in the money.   Originally was a B for me as I have seen no works with my eyes, draws the rail and Rojas is not one of Yates’s regular riders but the clocker report was fairly positive so will include.
2 Magala barn is 2 for 33 in this spot.   Dec 11th gate work was nice waiting on mate and his last two gate works were sharp then motored along nicely for the level.
4 Rancho Vista I will use but not a short price horse I would wager on.  Slightly improved last out with the addition of lasix but really had no excuse when caught late.
5 Grand Golden Road is similar to Rancho Vista with no excuse last time stalking a slow pace.
7 Vanessa’s Wish debuts for a barn that is 3 for 20 with all first timer starters the last 5 years.   Much like the 2 Magala has some nice works for the level.
9 Venezuelen Pride I have on top but not one I am rushing to the windows to wager on.   Claimed out of a tapeta race two back then added blinkers which now are being removed so obviously connections thought the blinkers were not the answer.    The debut Oct 13th this filly broke well from rail but dropped completely out of it then came three wide full of run in the stretch.  I am sure that is what connections were eye balling when they decided to drop the tag.
11 Catarina I think is another that has a shot in here at a big price.   The debut came on the dirt versus much tougher and now gets back to the dirt while benefiting from Lasix.   Jan 1st Gate work this filly did not look like a claimer and the Feb 7th work was above average for this level.
13 United Fever will need to draw into the field and if she does should inflate the price on everyone else sporting the best dirt sprint of the group in my opinion and now takes a big class drop.

Race 4
A LINE
2 Tonight is the obvious favorite with lots of positives.   Like the fact is a claim back for D’Angelo and Irad gets back on after reading this colt two back.    The negative is the last race of course.
5 Cajun’s Cooking on top for me.   Claimed out of a nice route effort last time and now gets back to a sprint while having the benefit of lasix.   I liked the Dec 6th effort when outpaced early making a nice move closing the gap late.
6 Blue Got In is one I liked last time a bit off some nice tapeta works.   Adds blinkers today after not showing much during the debut effort, but want to see one more.

Race 5 is where I am likely getting to cute but will single on my main ticket here and if alive gives me an opportunity to hedge if I choose to do so.
A – 4 Kiss Cam‘s Tampa race 2 back I think is a touch better than this group but betting horses off those Tampa efforts coming into Gulfstream does disappoint sometimes.   Did not run horrible last time and now cuts back in distance going from tapeta to dirt.

B – 6 Slew Diva made the A line but gets downgraded to a B on strategy.   The two back race breaking her maiden I do have a bit behind Kiss Cams Tampa effort but she did not have the benefit of Lasix that day.   If you can find away to use both would be ideal but I am looking for prices else where.

C – 1 Happy Happy has to face winners for the first time coming off a odd effort where she looked done before the 1/4 pole but angled out mid track finding another gear going away late.
