After a week at Gulfstream with the only 1 MSW and it being a 1 1/2 Turf race, they make up for it today with 3. We do loss the jock signal in the Maiden races today with many riding at Tampa but it did not come into play to much even with 3 MSW’s today.
1 Mr. Peeks has big works as early as last summer and is working well coming into his debut. Unfortunately draws the rail and will have Etnico on his outside which I expect to show some speed. Barn is 8% 1st/Dirt/Spt/MSW. If you spread might throw this one in. I definitely suggest put this one in your watch list.
2 (A) Etnico debuts for a barn that is 21% 1st/Dirt/Spt/MSW Showed talent at OBS works nearly a year ago, looked great at the sale and has had a year to grow. You can watch a couple of recent works on XBTV, Dec 31st worked well w Stakes Runner Lightning Larry and the Feb 5th work he looks to have moved forward off the prior.
3 (A) Favorable Scenario was a 200K yearling purchase, in Brown’s barn, and has been working at Payson Park. But yet somehow there is no workout information….
4 Super Unison’s workouts suggest this one may need a race or two.
5 Point Liam by far has the most experience in the group making his 5th start today. Getting Lasix after showing Speed in previous starts is always a plus. Workout report suggest nothing has improved on this one from previous form.
6 Simcoe makes debut for a barn that is 5 for 18 in the last 5 years with first time starters. Never brought a first time starter to GP as mostly runs at Woodbine. You can watch Jan 21st Gate work on XBTV , broke wildly and pushed along. Travel well once got going, but I seen enough to wait on this one.
7 (B) Gold Magic for Kevin Attard who is 8% 1st/Spt/SYN in 5 years but does not show a single 1st time starter sprinting on the dirt in a MSW. But here we are? Workouts on paper suggest this one moved up when changed over to the dirt. Has been working well with older, also worked with couple other recent nice Maiden winners for the barn.
8 (C) ? Delegated is the first foal out of a unraced mare. Made a decent debut back in June and now returns here for Pletcher. Workouts not setting the woods on fire. Being Pletcher you almost have to include but other than the outside post there is not much other on the positive side. Could use this one defensively but I have no problem tossing.
Top Pick – 2 Etnico Unless the 1 horse was to scratch and put Etnico on the rail, I may take a stand and single this one. With the presence of Chad’s horse. Etnico may be a fair price and I will make a moderate win bet if that price is right.
Race 6 – Nothing Ground breaking here other than what is on your PP’s
1 Take It South tries the tapeta for the first time today after running around the track in her last same pace tiring late. She was in for a tag that day and now moves back to MSW company. Running well in her last 2 most definitely could make a case for her today. But will look to others.
2 (B) Solo Album you could definitely make a case to be used as an A in your multi’s. But she has had 4 starts and she is just bit one pace in all 4 tries. That maybe good enough to win here but will be a defensive use at best for me.
3 (A) Tiger Tap ran well in her last finishing well and she galloped out nicely with the winner and gets Lasix today.
4 (A) Olympic Prank makes her second start for a barn who is 20% 2ndSt/Turf/Syn/Rte/MSW and that goes up to 33% with Zayas riding. In her debut she ran well leveling out at 16th and tiring a bit. Without giving out the workout report, works are solid and works prior to debut were also good stuff. OLD WORK REPORTS show more of the same back before debut and barn is also fairly high on this one as well.
5 Tapit’s Approval has some bullets on page but they are not pretty. I believe this one is looking for some fitness and experience. Look for her to cut back to a sprint next time and maybe drop in class.
6 Lakeside Getaway stretches out and tries the tapeta for the first time. I might include somewhere but appears to be a same pace type that may struggle with 2 turns.
7 Tap and Chu …..
8 (C) Gymnast’s sale work from last spring looked decent and she has a solid work tab coming in. Have no workout information on this one, so might be one to toss in multi’s.
Top Pick – 4 Olympic Runner Unless the 3 or 4 scratches No Win Wager for me here.
Race 10 This one is tough and Recommend Spreading
1 Union Tap
2 (B) Monegasque is the first foal out of Heavenly Love who won in her second career start followed by winning the G1 Alcibiades at Keeneland.
3 (A) Arthur’s Ride makes his 3rd start for Mott who is 36% in this particular scenario and that second place finish to Instant Coffee is gonna grab attention of betters, but with this field I think you will get a fair price on any of these unless one of them has a lot of backside buzz. If forced to make a top selection I would put this one slightly ahead of 6 Case.
4 (B) Justice Department for Brown will take money but Chad’s numbers are not particularly good at GP.
5 (C) Union Trail has some good works on paper scattered on his page, but without seeing works is a use defensively.
6 (A) Case was working big before his debut and took money to prove it. Debut was pinched back a bit at start , then off turn drew even with winner and significant bumping early in stretch. He dug in well stayed on well just got out finished by a nice colt. If improves any will put him in the mix with the 3.
7 Secret Threat does stretch out for a barn who is 1 for 13 in the scenario and 63% in the money. This is a tough group and would be a pass for me.
8 (B) Dreamlike is a must include for Pletcher, If I used any of the first time starters as an A it would be this one.
9 Peregrino G is the bomb that could upset the field, obviously would have to improve greatly. But colt was ran very well as 2yo and now gets Lasix so should improve. Bit of a turn off for me that they entered a turf race in last that washed off.
Top Pick 6 Case My only Action on this race will be in the Multi’s
