I will be covering the Early Pick 5 in detail, and quick thoughts on rest of card.
You can find John Pinder’s work on the late Pick 5 under the Gulfstream Park menu as well here at Inthemoneypodcast.com
Heads up – I may miss a second consecutive Sunday of action with a lot of family activities going on, but I will get the beginning of a post up on the website by 8 CST Sunday morning to signal information is coming. So if nothing by 0800 then likely will not be happening.
Nothing Ground Breaking or overly exciting early today. Will update Post scratch with late card spot plays and Early Pick 5 ticket.
ICE COLD !! Nope not an exacta… ME! I have been Ice Cold for 2 weeks…….
Early Pick 5 I will play a ticket but not a sequence that had me building multiple tickets with strong opinions.
R1 – 7 If playing a Pick 4 and 5 does not fit in your budget then I would suggest skipping to the Pick 4.
R2 – 1 8 5 12
R3 – 4
R4 – 1 5 10 11
R5 – 1 2 5
Turf Pick 3
R4 – 1 5 10 11
R10 – 7 B – 2
R12 – 4 6 8
I do like some short prices late in the card that I will press a bit.
Pick 3 and Doubles
R8 – 5 Crudo
R9 – 1 Hurricane Nelson
R10 – 7 Just A Care
TAMPA!! I am finishing up some Tampa work so may be 1 more update with some random Tampa opinions… If not anything on Tampa by 11:30 CST then its not happening.
Race 1 starts the day out with one of those races I could stare it for an hour and get no where. So it’s either difficult or I just am not seeing the ball!
There is many in here that need or will want the lead, looks chaotic which leads me to chose one in this spot then play that horse in the pick 5 or skip to the pick 4
Strategy Lone A – 7 Alley Oop Johnny ran well off the bench last time and has had plenty of success here at Gulfstream Park. I think he has another win or two left in him but not overly confident as he should have handled that group he faced last time.
Not going spend a lot of time with details here.
B LINE – 1 3 8
Race 2 does not get a lot easier.
A LINE – Unless I get some scratch help to change pace dynamics I do not have a top selection in here.
1 Devilment looks to get the trip from the inside post having plenty of speed to clear although dug in trying hard last time ultimately had no excuse when being bested by the potential favorite First Shots Fired. Often times the best trip wins these low level tapeta routes.
8 Bourbon Outlaw tried the tapeta for the first time last out going 9 furlongs so gets a slight cut back here and Reyes will try to get him going a bit earlier. Any new face in this group is a positive.
5 Fredericksburg is the price horse I will include but 15-1 is a dream.. 10-1 maybe? Showed good speed on debut but was pushed along early when he ended up in between horses he completely threw in the towel.
12 First Shots Fired has produced 3 solid efforts in a row and appears the horse to beat, but not sure what to make of the barn change. Outside post is of no concern as he was drawn wide last time and showed plenty of speed outside and looked like a winner coming to the 16th pole before being no match for Lookin For Roses.
B LINE
2 Crptonym ran very well last time at a big number and if Ruiz could get this gelding more involved early I could see it.
7 De la Calles has 2 solid tapeta routes but will need to find more as had no excuse last time coming out of a common race, but if spreading I would include.
11 Live to Ride if spreading but efforts are dull and would need to improve a great deal.
Race 3 has a clear cut favorite that will be loose on the lead.
Lone A – 4 Gayles Evening has a clear edge on the field. Only way I see this horse losing is if Drayden does not use her speed and invites others into the race. GO!
Pending the Probable Payout Exacta – 4 over 2
Race 4 is full of nice 3 year old’s and if you land on the right one you should get a fair price.
A LINE – The top two horses to beat in my opinion are drawn poorly.
1 Gearing Up is a half to Gear Jockey that has looked good in the morning prior and after a debut that was just to get some experience. If watch that one back is rolling down the center of track late flashing a bit of that talent. Barn is 18% 2nd time out/Turf/Rte/MSW. I have this one on top but was a bit surprised Johnny V jumped mounts here.
10 Excite ran just as well as No More War last time on debut although got the benefit of saving ground the entire way but showed plenty of interest splitting horses late.
11 No More War is the horse to beat making his third start for Casse. If was drawn inside I would have on top but the post does hurt his chance. The Debut on the tapeta was nice with a bit of trouble and he should have won last time getting held up a bit trying to get off the rail then once outside lugged in a bit but once clear he was picking up Walking in Memphis quickly just missing.
B LINE
2 Salamis ran well last time when expected to win by the public, nothing negative out his last saved ground and finished decent just looking average to my eye.
5 Battle Drum could go off favored after and similar to the Brown runner he has done nothing wrong in 4 career starts just nothing jumping out saying I can improve. CHANGE
7 Cipher is the Pletcher I want but was a bit puzzled Johnny V went with the barn mate assuming he got to pick… Went off favored because Irad was aboard last time and was to far back. Irad gave this one a moderate hand ride in the stretch never asking for much as he had no chance from there.
Race 5 ends the early pick 5 with classic 6250 open claimer where I need a few. The horses coming out of the common race are basically all drawn in the same positions with no new faces standing out.
A LINE – Not much to say about the horses coming out of the common race as nothing hidden and no reason to be against the 1st and 2nd place finishers coming out of that race.
1 Foxy Lady
2 Miguel’s Belle
5 Chaina is the only new face to the group I would include. The only time she has raced on the dirt was in her second career start and I have seen her work on the dirt plenty of times before now with nothing negative. Barn is hot as anyone on the grounds and continues to get overlooked.
