AQUEDUCT – 2/24/2024

RACE 1: 3-6-4-2

#3 EASTERN STAR is the one to beat off a runner-up effort last out on a sloppy track.  She finally ran back to the promise shown in her first two starts last year and is now a candidate for top honors as the favorite.  Her speed will always be a weapon and she’s in position to use it today.

RACE 2: 5-1/1A-2-6

#5 AMARETTI returns off a lengthy layoff after failing in her first try against winners.  She was an impressive winner two back at Keeneland on the front end and should be tough to catch today if able to get loose.  There’s precious little speed signed up and Bill Mott is among the best around with layoff returnees.

RACE 3: 3-2-4-5

The improvement shown last time out by #3 GROWTH RATE was notable in that she also offered more speed.  The lead will end up going to one of the two Chad Brown runners in this field, both of whom will be well fancied at the windows.  This daughter of Into Mischief is the one to beat given her last outing.

RACE 4: 8-3-1-2

#8 NOTAH has ample early speed and got involved in the pace last time out.  He is in a favorable spot today to stalk and pounce and should be a square price at or around the morning line of 9/2.   Jose Gomez is quietly becoming one of the better at the Big A and wlill be best served by riding her patiently today.

RACE 5: 8-6-2-10

#8 GOOD PENNY is now in the care of Rick Dutrow, Jr., and this mare has been facing better in recent starts. She should be in a good position early and will be tough to handle if with even a modest step forward.

RACE 6: 7-8-5-2

#7 ARIANA RYE is a firster by MItole who worked quickly at the OBS March sale early in 2023.  She is training well for her unveiling and trainer Robby Falcone, Jr. is very good with debuting runners.  The other positive is the lack of quality in this field and the ideal outside post position she’s landed.

RACE 7: 8-2-6-4

#8 ROCK THE WEEKEND ran a solid race last out against lesser and flew home from well off a hot pace.  The early tempo in here should heat up again, and this son of Weekend Hideaway is in top form at the moment.  Look for him in the stretch drive of this affair at what should be a solid price to boot.

RACE 8: 3-1-2-7

#3 DR ARDITO is clearly the one to beat over a surface that he has excelled on in the past.  He was up in time to win a race last out where he was forced to track down an isolated leader.  He won this race last year and still keeps rolling along as one of the best NY breds around at this point in time.

RACE 9: 6-5-4-1

#6 PERFECT OUTCOME was compromised by the track profile last time out and wound up spinning his wheels late.  He should be a threat from just off the pace today and will be a good price today.  He has been in solid form of late as well.
