RACE 1: 5-1-4-3
#5 MANHATTAN BEAUTY is by 10% debut sire Union Rags out of a dam who was winless. She is training well according to the clockers and needn’t be much to contend in a particularly weak field to open a particularly weak Friday program!
RACE 2: 5-1-2-6
Veteran trainer Rick Dutrow, Jr. clearly saw something he could do with #5 LADY ARWEN to get her to her best. She is 1-1 since being claimed and now moves up in class with a positive-looking Thorograph pattern. She has tactical speed and can use it to stalk and pounce this afternoon in a field largely made up of off form horses.
RACE 3: 4-1-5-6
#4 ASHES AND DIAMONDS is switching back to turf after a series of failed dirt tries of late. The debut for this gal came on the weeds against much tougher, so she’s deserving of another opportunity now that she has more experience. Being forwardly placed wouldn’t hurt either.
RACE 4: 5-1-6-4
It seems like a fool’s errand to try to beat #5 WHO’S THE KING, who drops in class for Saffie Joseph, Jr. This guy lures Irad Ortiz, Jr today and should get a good stalking trip. Barring a massive improvement from some of the rivals, he’ll be very tough to beat.
RACE 5: 2-5-3-4
#2 HIDDEN AGENDA debuted on turf and showed some early interest before tiring. She’s been rained off the turf twice since but now lands an inside post in a horrendous field where she’ll be a decent price. Look for her to try and get control of this thing right from the start.
RACE 6: 6-4-5-7
#6 PEEK goes first off a claim and moves up in class today for Rob Falcone, Jr. This is a good placement from a pace perspective, as there should be enough hitting up front to set up his late bid. The price will be right as well given the competitive nature of the field.
RACE 7: 6-4-5-8
#6 RED VIOLET is a firster who is reportedly training well for her debut. She is by 19% debut sire Justify out of a mare who was stakes placed. She’s a half to Rubilinda, who was a flashy debut winner and earned accolades prior to an underwhelming stakes career. Flavien Prat being aboard this gal is a positive sign.
RACE 8: 1-6-3-4
#1 KATE BARRY is training well for her debut and her dam was a stakes caliber filly. She is by Constitution, a 15% debut sire whose horses do well on debut. The rail is a negative, but she doesn’t need to be much to win this thing. The balance of the field is relatively weak.
RACE 9: 1-3-5-6
#1 MACHO MUSIC wired the field in an upset two back at Churchill Downs then ran into the heavies of the division last time out in the Woody Stephens. He is the one to catch today and should be loose in the opening stages. If able to get loose he’ll be very tough to run down.
RACE 10: 2-3-4-5
#2 DIVIDEND RECAP returns from a lengthy break, but trainer Miguel Clement has shown plenty of ability in terms of having one ready fresh in his nascent training career. This filly ran well in two prior starts, one of which came on a boggy turf course at Aqueduct in late 2023. This is a weak field and she should get a good stalking trip inside.
