Woodbine Spot Plays 06/13/23 By Jackson Muniz

Race 4: #8 Bait N Switch (15-1)

I liked the debut from #8 Bait N Switch and believe he has a chance to upset this field. He broke slowly and was last early on while wide into the first turn. He steadily advanced down the backside and again was wide into the far turn and looked like he had a chance at the top of the stretch. He would flatten out in the final furlong, but he made up nearly 10 lengths on the field at one point and the two turn debut+wide trip had to have taken its toll on him. He gets a little more ground to work with today and this large field should ensure a decent pace to close into. With a better break and a step forward in start number two, he can be a major contender at a price.

Race 6: #8 Silent and Violent (6-1)

With the scratch of #4, the #8 Silent and Violent becomes the lone runner in the field with prior experience and that could be the difference maker in this five and a half furlong dash. He showed plenty of early foot in his first start, but he had a tough task dueling in between rivals throughout. He understandably tired in the lane, but that race should set him up nicely for todays assignment. He’s cutting back a furlong for todays race and drew well towards the outside. McKnight wins at a 17% clip second time out, and again he should have a major fitness edge over his rivals and we know he’s fast. The presence of Kimura speaks volumes and I love this colt’s chances today at 6-1.

Race 8: #2 Delphia (5-1)

One more Kimura mount to end the day, another decent price in #2 Delphia (5-1). She was thrown into the deep end last time in just her second career start and she finished up the track in the Woodbine Oaks after a troubled trip. That start doesn’t bother me too much since she probably bit off more than she was ready for and her first start indicates she has plenty of talent. She’s got some of the best late pace figures in the field and that’s a big plus considering she doesn’t need to come from way out of it. She should get a good ground-saving trip, so let’s give her a chance to rebound today.
