AQUEDUCT – 11/3

RACE 1: 8-10-5-1

The likeliest winner in the country today is #8 CATHERINE WHEEL, who should have broken her maiden last time out.  She broke like a shot, was wrangled back off the lead then lost contact around the turn before making a token move to take 3rd place honors.  A more aggressive pilot today will see to it she gets into the mix right from the start.

RACE 2: 10-9-8-1

Off the turf here and #10 POPPY’S PRIDE likely gets the run of the race with speed and an outside draw.  The win last out came amid strong fractions against a solid group and he fits very nicely here against what should be a field greatly reduced by scratches.

RACE 3: 3-2-1-5

#3 INTERSTATEDAYDREAM has had brushes with Grade I caliber form but has wisely been knocked down a peg class-wise.  She beat up on a weak field last out at Laurel but did so with a less than ideal trip and now catches a recent blowout winner who will not have the benefit of Lasix.  That makes this Brad Cox trainee clearly the one to beat.

RACE 4: 4-5-8-3

#2 ALICE KRAMDEN faced much better last time out and was put at a disadvantage with a poor break from the gate.  She should be able to settle and make one run this afternoon in a race with a decent amount of speed signed up.  The price should be right as well in a contentious affair.

RACE 5: 5-2-8-9

#5 DASHING DELLA was outside much of the way last time out on a day when you wanted to save ground as much as possible.  She now cuts back in distance and feels like a runner more ideally suited to sprint distances.  If she is able to settle and make one run in here on a fair strip she’ll be a major threat.

RACE 6: 10-11-12-4

#10 FROZEN FOUR endured a brutal trip last time out during a mid-pack finish against similar over this oval.  He was in tight early, shuffled out heading around the far turn then came up wanting late.  The likelihood he gets a cleaner go of it is very high and he’ll be a square price to boot.

RACE 7: 7-3-2-1

#7 POGI gets Lasix back after a couple of tries without it at Monmouth against NJ breds.  This razor sharp owner took this veteran for 30k and he’s now in for 20k in search of career win #4. The pace should be somewhat moderate this afternoon and that’ll keep this son of Daaher in the mix from the opening bell.

RACE 8: 2-6-1-5

#2 ME AND MR. C drops in class for Mike Maker out of a stake try where he was buried inside well off the pace.  That was at a distance that was beyond his preferred trip but he now lands in a far more reasonable spot. There’s enough pace in here to set the table for him and the morning line odds of 7/2 are appealing.

RACE 9: 6-2-1-4

#6 TABEGAUCHE exits the prestigious St. Louis Derby where he was up in time to win by a head over stablemate Slip Mahoney.  That runner has since won a stake race at Churchill Downs and this Brad Cox trainee has the tactical speed to stay within range from the start.  With a moderate pace expected here he figures to get the run of the race.

RACE 10: 7-5-3-2

#7 JHIRSCH is bred well for the weeds and should benefit from having some experience under his belt.  He was a non-factor in his debut for a barn whose horses are generally better on the weeds, so improvement is expected here.  Progeny of Not This Time hit at a 15% clip first time turf and this guy is a half to turf winners including Chulainn, who banked 291k for this barn.
