RACE 1: 6-4-2-1
#6 FACTUALLY CORRECT drops in class and should find himself with a target today given the speed signed on in this field. He has had a great deal of success in NY bred events over the years and will be a square price, even with the scratch of the rival just to his inside.
RACE 2: 8-7-3-2
#8 GLINT draws well outside and finds the right class level to make noise today as the favorite. He fits this condition nicely and has been training well with better horses of late. This barn’s runners are usually a guessing game, but this one feels reliable.
RACE 3: 7-3-1-6
#7 TRADING TROUBLE ran a bang-up race on debut for Mike Maker and now comes back for career start #2 in a highly winnable spot. She was good in that unveiling, stalking a strong early pace before grabbing command and getting tagged late. Any improvement off that will make her very tough to beat.
RACE 4: 4-5-6-9
#4 WHITE PALOMINO looms a heavy favorite in this affair as he returns from a lengthy break for Chad Brown. This ridgling earned wo graded stakes placing, including a narrow miss in the GI Belmont Derby before being sidelined, and he now gets Lasix on the class drop.
RACE 5: 1/1A-5-4-7
The drop in class on #1A LOOMS BOLDLY is disconcerting, but what else are you going to do with a 5YO NY bred gelding that has no state bred conditions left? He had a nightmare go of it last time out at Finger Lakes and should be a threat from the start with a cleaner break from the gate.
RACE 6: 6-7-8-4
#6 GOLDEN TORNADO starts for a barn that has had multiple strong 2YO debuting runners at the meet. This colt is out of a 5x winner and is kin to H. Allen Jerkens contender Verifire. He looks ready based on workouts, but this appears to be a shark tank on paper.
RACE 7: 7-1-6-5
#7 EXACT ESTIMATE is a complete cinch on paper if he runs his last race. He was good when 2nd against tougher in a race that included next-out winner Big Everest. The winner of that affair, Cugino, came back to contest the Fourstardave. This veteran was wide the entire trip and that is not where you wanted to be given the track profile.
RACE 8: 8-2-3-6
#8 SURVEILLANCE is a major player going turf-to-dirt for trainer Linda Rice and dropping in class. He has run well on the Saratoga main track before and should get an ideal stalking trip from the outside. This is a stakes caliber allowance event, but he fits it well if he can offer his customary strong performance.
RACE 9: 6-3-1-5
#6 LAURELIN is the one to beat based on her 4-4 record and the fact that she has produced at every level. She was game in victory last time out in the Penn Oaks and should get a similar stalking trip under Kendrick Carmouche. The added ground figures to do her no harm as well based on a stamina-laden pedigree.
RACE 10: 1-6-7-5
#1 EL CORDOBES is the more intriguing of the Charlie Appleby pair in this field as he exits a win in a Group II at Ascot. He has the stamina to stay the out the 12 furlong trip, something that isn’t true of his stablemate drawn towards the outside. If he can save some ground and kick late, he’ll be a major threat at a square price.
RACE 11: 3-5-2-1
#3 ALYESKA is the horse you want to bet out of the 4th race on July 5 given that she was coming back from a layoff and had no pace to run at late. This is a spot where she can step forward 2nd off a layoff. If she is her 7/2 morning line then that constitutes real value.
RACE 12: 7-5-2-10
#7 FIDELIGHTCAYUT is the one to beat shipping up from New Jersey, and his last trip to NY worked out well when he was 2nd behind Rhetorical. If he can get close to the pace he’ll be a factor from the outset and Ricardo Santana, Jr. is riding as well as anyone in the colony.
